W. E. B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture

The W. E. B. Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture is a profound tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. W. E. B. Du Bois, a historian, Pan-Africanist, and civil rights pioneer. Located in the Cantonments area of Accra, Ghana, the Centre occupies his final residence, where he lived as a Ghanaian citizen at the invitation of President Kwame Nkrumah. Established in 1985 by the Ghanaian government, the Centre serves as both a memorial and a hub for advancing Pan-African ideals. Visitors can explore its tranquil grounds, which feature a museum with Du Bois’s personal library, a shrine housing the graves of Du Bois and his wife Shirley, an Open Air Theatre for cultural events, and the Marcus Garvey Guest House. Now managed by the W. E. B. Du Bois Museum Foundation, the Centre is expanding into a world-class historical and educational complex.
