Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary is a community-based ecotourism site in the Volta Region of Ghana, established in 1993 with help from a Peace Corps volunteer. It protects Mona and Patas monkeys living in a sacred grove near the village of Tafi-Atome. The monkeys have long been considered sacred by locals, believed to be messengers from the gods, which has helped in their conservation. Visitors can enjoy guided tours to observe the playful monkeys in their natural forest habitat, while supporting local community development through tourism. The sanctuary also preserves rich biodiversity, including birds and butterflies, and offers cultural experiences in the village nearby.
