Nzulezu (also spelled Nzulezo) is a unique stilt village built over Lake Tadane. The village is approximately 400 to 500 years old and was established by migrants from Walata, a city in the ancient Ghana Empire. The village is constructed entirely on stilts and platforms above the water, serving both as a defense mechanism against attacks and as a way of life adapted to the environment. Nzulezu is inhabited by around 500 people whose main occupations include farming, fishing, and brewing local gin. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Tentative Site, renowned for its cultural significance and its harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
