The Larabanga Mosque in Ghana's Savannah Region, built around 1421, is the oldest mosque in the country and one of West Africa's oldest. It features Sudano-Sahelian architecture, made of mud and stick with two conical towers and twelve buttresses. The mosque holds a revered old Quran believed to have been gifted from heaven in 1650. It is a spiritual and cultural landmark near Mole National Park and has undergone several restorations to preserve its historic value.
