The Gbele Game Reserve, located 17 km south of Tumu in Ghana's Upper West Region, is an important sanctuary for endangered wildlife, including buffalo, hippos, elephants, and the country's largest herds of roan antelope. It is also a vital bird sanctuary with about 190 species recorded, supporting both indigenous and migratory birds. The reserve features open savannah woodland and plays a key role in the regional migratory route for elephants. It is the fourth-largest game reserve in Ghana, covering 565 square kilometers.
